Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council

Green17 relaunched a new website to complete the merge between Lisburn City Council and Castlereagh Borough Council on 1 April 2015.

Careful attention was paid to responding to residents and business owners within the new area to ensure the site fully caters to their everyday needs, helping them to find information quickly and easily.

The site’s performance has improved significantly since re-launch, with users accessing more pages than ever before, and spending more time viewing content during each session.

Green17 categorised content in several ways for multiple routes of access to any information. This includes search-as-you-type bars, A-Z features, promotion boxes, related items and quick-links, as well as primary navigation.

Colour coding the main user groups and quick-links form a key part of the design which allows visitors to visually navigate and quickly reach popular pages on the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council website.

LCCC’s A-Z feature neatly fits in the primary navigation to direct users to their destination via a live search as you type through the A-Z of services and locations.

Icons have been incorporated to add to the user experience and design. LCCC have full control over what information is categorised in this indexed section.

Conducting valuable research was a key part of this project for us to make sure that local people were involved in shaping this new community focused website and that all government best practices were followed.

The Green17 team devised several strategies to gain a comprehensive statistics which would influence project requirements which included residents and business owners from both council areas. We conducted several focus groups, flash surveys, interviews with identified stakeholders and online surveys to capture valuable information from the public and the results were collated for LCCC and presented in a fully comprehensive report.

Applying online is more convenient than ever

Moving beyond paper forms for key services was an important move forward for the new supercouncil. Users can now report, pay and apply for a range of services online at a time and place more convenient to them, receive faster responses and email receipts for added assurance.

LCCC staff manage this section easily with our simple drag and drop form builder, automated payments and quick exports of submitted applications.
