Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council

Green17 were brought on board to help Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council with the online side of their amalgamation as part of local government reform in Northern Ireland whereby 26 councils became 11 Supercouncils on 1 April 2015.

Coleraine, Ballymoney, Limavady and Moyle Borough Councils previously held individual web presences which we analysed, evaluated and then merged into a fully responsive and accessible single website for the re-branded Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council.

Considering the Key Users

We gained a strong understanding of current users and the most popular sections of each of the four legacy websites through analysis and interpretation of user behaviour and trends from website analytics. Our findings were shared with the Causeway Coast and Glens web team which helped in determining the main features of their new website.

Making things simple

Icons were assigned to represent each of these key services in an attractive and intuitive format. These work particularly well on mobiles and tablets for easy access through touchscreen devices.

A strong visual identity for the 4 user groups

Green17 seamlessly incorporated the brand colours into the final design with additional touches such as colour coded menus, buttons and links within the Live, Work, See & Do and Council sections. This new look and feel for the site has helped to form a fresh and modern identity for Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council.

Versatility & Usability

Our design team steered primary focus to Causeway Coast & Glens' strong collection of high-resolution photography from the moment users arrive on the site which successfully promotes attractions in the local area and what it has to offer.

The homepage carousel has two main templates, allowing for a striking full-screen image, or alternatively a 5-tile grid for highlighting several popular sections of the website to online users.
