In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Mazda MX-5, a European Race for Automotive Press was held in February 2010. For subsequent press and marketing events, the Irish race car was brought to Ireland in May. Mazda requested the creation of an online competition website to design a decal which would be placed on the race car for its promotional tour of Ireland. The campaign was to be promoted using digital media only.
The website integrated an online editor, similar to Photoshop, through which competitors could design their graphics. As an additional option, a template was available for download for use with one of the major design programmes. Entries were displayed within the gallery, showreel and on social media website flickr. Through a customised page the public could vote for their favourite entry, share competition news with other users and link to the competition microsite.
